Mit der „Beerdigung“ der offiziellen Rumration (dem „tot“) in der Royal Navy am 31. Juli 1970 ging eine jahrhundertalte Ära zu Ende. Aber: der „Black Tot Day“ war geboren – ein Feiertag des Rums. Diesen zelebriert Black Tot aus dem Hause Elixir jährlich mit einer Sonderabfüllung ihres Finest Caribbean Rum.

Das Ziel der Black Tot Master Blender’s Reserve 2023 ist die größere Nähe zum ursprünglichen Navy Blend, mit einem intensiveren Mundgefühl und satten Noten von Holzrauch, Espresso und Kakao. Dafür kombinierte Elixir Master Blender Oliver Chilton einen Teil der Master Blender’s Reserve aus dem Vorjahr, die wie immer teils aus dem originalen Navy Rum besteht, mit bis zu 31 Jahre alten (Wooden) Pot und Column Still Rums aus fünf verschiedenen Ländern: Guyana (31,5%), Barbados (18,3%), Jamaika (9%), Trinidad (19%) und Grenada (2,7%).
