Cotswolds

Unspoilt nature, sleepy cottages next to cosy pubs and tea rooms - the Cotswolds region is considered one of the most beautiful in England. Since 2014, the Cotswolds Distillery has been producing one of the few English whiskies here and has drawn a great deal of inspiration from its surroundings: Breathtaking scenery and dreamy villages meet craftsmanship and a flair for special flavours. The barley for the fruity whisky comes from local farmers, the water comes directly from the village. During numerous weekend trips with his family, Daniel Szor fell in love with the Cotswolds and founded the first distillery in this region in 2014, in the small village of Shipston-on-Stour. The distillery is now an integral part of village life: it buys its ingredients from local farms, and the barley and water come exclusively from the region. The neighbours occasionally help the distillery with bottling and in return use waste products from the distilling process to feed their animals. When distilling the whisky, Head Distiller Nickolas Franchino takes care to separate the pre- and post-distillate from the "heart" with particular precision for a fresh and light distillate. This then develops in bourbon and red wine casks. While the whisky was still maturing in the casks, the Cotswolds distillery already made a name for itself in recent years with its award-winning dry gin. Other products from the distillery stand out for their creativity - including a bottled Espresso Martini and a Spirited Sherry, consisting of three types of sherry and the Cotswolds New Make.
