The Caol Ila 12 Year Old is the flagship whisky of the Caol Ila Distillery, located on the northeastern coast of the island of Islay overlooking the Sound of Islay.

Caol Ila is known for producing a refined and elegant style of peated whisky. Compared to some of its island neighbours, the peat smoke is softer and balanced by citrus freshness and gentle sweetness.

Matured in American Oak Casks

The whisky matures primarily in American oak casks. These casks provide notes of vanilla, malt sweetness and light spice while preserving the distinctive maritime character of Islay whisky.

Aroma and Flavor

On the nose the whisky reveals aromas of gentle peat smoke, citrus fruits, apples and herbs. The palate is fresh and balanced with notes of lemon, malt sweetness, smoke and a subtle salty maritime touch. The finish is long, dry and pleasantly smoky.
